Honesty is an essential value of our academic community. Students enroll at Shafi’a Health Institute to learn, and learning depends upon dedication, integrity, and a firm commitment to academic honesty. Any student who registers for courses in the ADK School of Health Sciences has, in essence, agreed to the value of learning and to uphold the importance of the School’s Code of Academic Honesty. This code serves not only as a policy, but as a shared commitment between students, faculty, and the institution to maintain trust, fairness, and professional responsibility within the academic environment.

All students are required to undertake the following pledge as part of their enrollment in the School. Students who choose not to live up to this pledge will be subject to disciplinary action and may be asked to leave the School as per the provisions outlined in this Code.

“I pledge to do my own academic work and to excel to the best of my abilities, upholding the ADK School of Health Sciences Challenge. I promise not to lie about my academic work, to cheat, or to steal the words or ideas of others, nor will I help fellow students to violate the Code of Academic Honesty.”

Understanding Academic Dishonesty

Academic dishonesty undermines the foundation of education and professional development. The following examples represent offenses against the Code of Academic Honesty in the ADK School of Health Sciences. These categories may overlap and are not limited to the examples listed. Any form of cheating, misrepresentation, fabrication, plagiarism, or dishonesty will be considered a violation of this Code.

Cheating on quizzes and examinations includes, but is not limited to, the use of notes, books, calculators, mobile phones, photographs, computers, websites, social media platforms, or any other unauthorized aids during a quiz or examination when such materials are not permitted by the instructor. It also includes talking during a quiz or examination when communication has been prohibited, looking at another student’s paper during the testing period, or continuing to work on a quiz or examination after the instructor has announced that time has ended.

Acts of dishonesty may also extend beyond examinations and include falsifying academic records, misrepresenting attendance or participation, submitting work completed by another individual, copying assignments, or presenting the ideas or words of others without appropriate acknowledgment. Assisting another student in committing academic dishonesty is equally considered a violation of this Code.

Students are reminded that integrity in academic conduct reflects directly on their future professional roles within healthcare. As future healthcare professionals, students are expected to demonstrate ethical behavior, accountability, and honesty in all academic and clinical settings. The principles upheld within this Code mirror the ethical standards required in professional healthcare practice.

Institutional Commitment

Shafi’a Health Institute is committed to fostering a culture of academic integrity. Any reported violations of the Code of Academic Honesty will be reviewed in accordance with institutional procedures. Appropriate disciplinary measures may be taken depending on the severity and nature of the offense.

By enrolling in the School of Health Sciences, each student affirms their commitment to uphold these standards and to contribute to a community built on respect, responsibility, and trust.
